The biggest factors are the system type and the number of zones, the size and heat-load of the home, the condition of any existing ductwork, whether the electrical panel needs upgrading, and — on coastal lots — corrosion-resistant coil protection. CleanBC rebates in Nanaimo (2026)
Two provincial programs affect the final price. The Home Renovation Rebate carries no income test and is worth up to $4,000 toward a heat pump where the home is heated with electricity. The Energy Savings Program is income-qualified and pays up to $13,000 for a ground-oriented home heated with electricity at income Level 1 or 2. Both require a CleanBC Better Homes registered contractor, and neither covers replacing a heat pump that is already in place.
